Wrong-Way Driver Causes Car Accident
Posted on June 5, 2014
A two-vehicle accident in Tulsa during the early morning hours of May 31 left several individuals injured. Officials report that the collision was allegedly caused by a drunk driver.
According to police, the accident occurred close to the intersection of Sheridan and 81st streets after a woman was reportedly operating her vehicle in the wrong direction. Following the crash, an ambulance took the individuals who were traveling in the car that was hit to the hospital. It was not reported how many injured victims were hospitalized or the nature and extent of their injuries. The woman who caused the crash was not seriously injured. There was also no report on the condition of the teenage passenger who was in her car.
After responding to the scene, law enforcement officials stated that the woman appeared to be intoxicated; police say she was unable to keep her balance and that her breath smelled like she had been drinking alcohol. She reportedly admitted to the police that she had just come from visiting the house of a friend where she consumed a glass of wine.
Following a sobriety test, police took the woman into custody on various charges. She was taken to the Tulsa County Jail for booking and faces charges of driving on the wrong side of the road, DUI causing injury and child endangerment. The woman’s blood alcohol content level was not disclosed in the report nor were the details regarding the date of her hearing.
A local Tulsa attorney who handles personal injury claims may be able to help those injured in this drunk driving accident to pursue compensation for their losses. By using evidence from police reports and the results from blood or field sobriety tests, the attorney could prove a driver’s negligence in the case.
