Oklahoma Man Faces Charges of Negligence in Fatal Car Accident

Posted on September 16, 2014

On Sept. 8, a 64-year-old man reportedly turned himself into Tulsa police after authorities issued a warrant for his arrest in connection with a May traffic accident that killed a 24-year-old woman. According to authorities, the fatal crash took place on the Broken Arrow Expressway in the vicinity of Sheridan Road.

That is where the 64-year-old man reportedly collided with a vehicle driven by the 24-year-old woman. While the woman did not survive the collision, a 5-year-old passenger in the woman’s vehicle, her son, did escape the crash without fatal injuries.

The 64-year-old man did not report suffering injuries in the accident. According to authorities, he faces multiple charges in connection with the event, including one count of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle.

Families of victims in fatal car accidents often retain the representation and resources of a wrongful death attorney following an incident like the one in Tulsa. For, it is possible that such bereaved families might be eligible to pursue civil action, and the attorney may advise them whether a wrongful death lawsuit is in fact tenable. If so, the bereaved family members may be awarded restitution for pecuniary damages they suffered in connection with the sudden and wrongful death of their loved one, including funeral expenses and the costs associated with the decedent’s estate administration. Claimants in a prevailing wrongful death suit might also receive financial compensation for lost earnings if the decedent had contributed income to dependents while alive. In order to obtain compensation, it is necessary that claimants demonstrate the specific losses they suffered as a result of the accident.
