Charles Bryan Alred Car Accident LawyerAccording to authorities, two minors were killed and three others were injured in a late-night car wreck involving a drunk driver. The intoxicated driver, who was driving an SUV, reportedly sped through a red light before crashing into the victims’ smaller car.

Reports state that the two minors, who were sisters, were sitting in the backseat of the vehicle when the crash happened. Both were thrown from the vehicle on impact. Both girls died at the scene. The driver, 18, and the front-seat passenger, 16, were treated for injuries sustained from the collision.

Authorities have identified the SUV driver as a 38-year-old woman with multiple outstanding warrants. Based on witness accounts, an unidentified man was a passenger in the SUV but left the scene after the accident. The woman was taken to the county jail and charged with driving under the influence while causing an accident, driving with a suspended or revoked license, two counts of first-degree manslaughter, obstructing an officer and other traffic violations.

Car accidents that cause catastrophic injuries and induce long-term, negative consequences can be devastating for a family, particularly when a drunk driver is involved. In this case, an intoxicated driver displayed negligence that claimed two lives and injured two more. While the older victims survived the crash, physical pain may still affect them.

Oklahoma laws place strict penalties on criminally negligent drivers. However, the law also permits victims to seek compensation. Wage loss, medical expenses and property damage are only portions of what the victims may face. A personal injury lawyer may be able to help the victims of a car crash pursue legal claims for financial and emotional damages caused by the wreck.
